This four-year project of works to widen the Western Ring Rd (M80) road way incorporates up to 400,000 plants with over 90 plant species from all over Australia (exotic and native). There are thousands of square metres of mulching running along the road and 40ha of grassing. A carbon offset planting was installed and with waterways, catchment basins and creek re-alignments, works were varied across the sites.
Working on one of Melbourne's busiest roads, to ensure safe working conditions and minimal disruption to traffic were key challenges on these sites with night works, blown mulch and work under traffic management a must. Working extremely closely with the partners and companies involved has resulted in works being completed on time and without incident.
